Governor Acharya Devvrat was 'At Home' to the elite of the Shimla town on the occasion of Republic Day at Raj Bhawan here today. Lady Governor Darshana Devi, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and his wife Dr. Sadhana Thakur were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, Governor Acharya Devvrat said that Republic Day was an occasion to rededicate ourselves to carry forward our Nation and State on the path of progress and prosperity. He stressed upon the need to create an environment well suited for pious and virtuous thoughts in the State.He said that our freedom fighters and revolutionaries have given us this opportunity for which we were grateful to them. He said that every person should contribute in restoration of our rich traditions. He said that the country was indebted to freedom fighters and brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country and added that it was our responsibility to serve the nation with sincerity and dedication.

He urged to work for the development of the State and Country and said that life of every individual was for some purpose and we should contribute for building a peaceful and healthy society. He said that we should pledge to dedicate our life for the development of the nationEarlier, the Darbar Hall at Raj Bhawan witnessed the patriotic songs sung by Jagat Verma.  Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur also honoured him.Chief Justice Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice Surya Kant, Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Agriculture Minister Dr. Ram Lal Markanda, MLAs,  Lt. General G.S. Sangha, Chief of Staff, ARTREC, Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. Shrikant Baldi, Director General of Police S.R. Mardi, Chairman & Vice Chairman of Tribunal, various Boards and Corporations, Vice Chancellor Nauni University Dr. H.C. Sharma, Freedom Fighters, prominent persons of the town, Senior Civil, Police and Military officers were also present on the occasion among others.
