DDC Kathua inaugurates capacity building training programme for Sarpanchs

A comprehensive module for capacity building of newly elected Sarpanchs of various Panchayats across the district was inaugurated today by District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria.The four day training program seeks to empower Sarpanchs by enhancing their capacity, capability and skill in governance and administration of villages.The training program is being organized by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.

The DDC said that such training programmes would go a long way in building capacities of the elected representatives and help them to chalk out their roles and responsibilities and enable them to discharge their duties more efficiently. During four day programme awareness would also be created on Panchayati Raj Act.DDC said the awareness programme has been initiated to train the elected representatives at the grassroots level in various areas like engineering (building of roads, drains, latrines etc.), finance, social development, education, health, and environment among others.Similarly, several new schemes have been launched by the State as well as Central government which bring benefit to the common man especially those in distress and the under privileged.ACD, Sukhpal informed that elected Sarpanchs from outside the State who contributed significantly to change the socio-economic profile of their villages will also come and share their experiences with them.Among others District Panchayat Officer, Varinder Bawa, BDO, master trainer, resource persons, panchs and sarpanchs in large numbers were present in the training programme.
