Bathinda is all set to organise Punjab State Girls' Games; around 3200 players will participate

Bathinda is all set to organise three days Punjab State Games for Girl’s under –14 starting from January 15th. As many as 3200 players will participate in these games as stated by Kartar Singh, Assistant Director Sports.After reviewing the arrangements, he said that 300 officials from all over the state have also been deputed for the smooth conduct of these games. The opening ceremony will be held at Multipurpose Sports Stadium, where all the preparations are completed. The main aim to conduct these games is to catch budding young players under Central Government Scheme "Khelo India" and nurture them in various wings/academies and train them for the competitions at different levels.He also disclosed that the competitions will be held at three places simultaneously at Bathinda, S.A.S Nagar (Mohali) and Sangrur to provide the best equipment and facilities to the players. The games to be held at Bathinda, which will include Boxing, Basketball, Badminton, Kabaddi (National Style), Kho-Kho, Football, Handball, Wrestling, Judo, Vollyball and Table Tennis. 

Swimming, Hockey and Gymnastics will be held at Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Sector 78, S.A.S Nagar (Mohali) and Athletics and Skating will be conducted at War Heroes Stadium Sangrur.Mr. Kartar Singh said that all the preparations like Boarding and Lodging, Catering, Medical, Transportation and Security arrangements have been completed. Mr. Parneet, Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda earlier convened meetings of the specialised committees constituted for various arrangements which will look after all the issues regarding facilities to be provided to the players. Play fields have been made ready for the competitions and special emphasis has been given to the accommodation for comfortable stay in view of winters as players will be accomodated in different schools where they will be provided proper beddings, good and healthy food by the department.He said that the players who are coming to participate in these games have been selected in district games conducted by the department in the month of November in all the districts. He informed that Mr. Harjit Singh, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Faridkot will be the Chief Guest and he will inaugurate the games at Multipurpose Sports Stadium on January 15th at 11:30 am.
