Panchayat Raj institutions plays key role in propagating Government's schemes in larger public interest : Vijayinder Singla

Minister for Public Works Department and IT Vijayinder Singla administered oath to the newly elected Panchayat Members, Sarpanches, Zila Parishad Members and Panchayat Samiti members in a district level function organized at Multania Road in Bathinda today.The newly elected representatives of 16 Zila Parishad, 148 Panchayat Samiti Members, 308 Sarpanches and 2419 Panches were administered the oath during the district level function. Addressing the mammoth gathering, the minister congratulated the newly elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and urged them to work for the upliftment of labourers, farmers and other weaker sections of the society."It's all because of your hard work and dedication that you are able to register the win but now it's time to work harder so that work can be done for the people who have shown faith in you," the minister said.He added that the newly elected representatives should work for the betterment of larger public interest without any bias.Making the public aware about the recent works done by the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government, Vijayinder Singla said that the Punjab Government has not only given more powers to the Panchayati Raj Institutions but it has also given 50 percent reservation to the women contesting these elections. Throwing light upon the works done by the Punjab Government during the past 21 months, he stated that the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government will leave no stone unturned to fulfill all the promises made in the election manifesto."For the Rs 2 lakh per farmer loan waiver for 10.25 lakh farmers, so far loan amount of Rs 4,000 crores for 4.1 lakh farmers has already been waived off by the Punjab Government," he said.

Talking about the benefit provided to the weaker section of society, Vijayinder Singla said that their government has replaced the blue cards with smart cards for the Atta Dal Scheme so that the actual and needy families could avail the benefit of this scheme without any delay.He urged the newly elected representatives to get encroachments removed from the Panchayat lands of their respective areas so that the 5 marla plots can be given to the poor families.After administering the oath to fight against drugs, Vijayinder Singla urged everybody present in the function to spread awareness against the use of drugs in urban and rural areas of the state. Later replying to media persons queries, the PWD and IT Minister said that people have given clear indication in the Panchayat Elections about their support for the Congress party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.The leaders who also spoke during the occasion included Bhucho MLA Preetam Singh Kotbhai, Congress Urban President Arun Wadhavan Congress Rural President Khushbaz Singh Jattana, PPCC General Secretary  Ashok Pardhan, senior Congress leader Harvinder Singh Laddi, Senior Congress leader Narinder Bhaleria, , Lakhwinder Singh Lakha, Zila Parishad Member Guriqbal Singh and Congress leader Ashok Kumar.DC Bathinda Praneet, IG M.S. Farooqui, SSP Dr. Nanak Singh, ADC (g) Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu and ADC (d) Sakshi Sawhney were also present during the occasion.
