Fresh snowfall disrupts life in Kashmir, highway closed

The second spell of snow fall in Kashmir on Thursday has disrupted life across Kashmir, mainly in mountainous regions of the valley.The Jammu-Srinagar highway was closed for traffic following the snowfall.An official said that people travelling to and from Srinagar are advised not to travel before knowing the status of highway traffic.The snowfall has affected the traffic movement particularly if non-Srinagar areas.The snowfall has resulted in power disruption at many places mainly in mountainous areas of the valley.This snowfall marks the second spell in the 40 day long harsh winter known as "Chillai Kalaan".The snowfall has given respite to people from dipping temperatures.(VMS)
