Dr Shehnaz Ganai, Ex MLC today convened a youth Convention at Dak Bungalow at Poonch in which the young brigade hailing from the villages participated and welcomed Dr Shehnaz Ganai warmly. While speaking on the occasion Dr Ganai said that development of Poonch has remained a distant dream for the people of Poonch who are living under the shadow of Gunfire from across the border and this is the hard reality and we all must acknowledge this. The young brigade who are the assets of any Nation today seem to be confused because they have to travel to travel and spend all their time in getting their grievances redressed, and rather in the pace get distracted and they virtually loose their trust in the system, said Dr Ganai.

While referring to the issue of “Good Governance” she said that Good governance is the key to a Nation’s progress. Government has to be committed to providing a transparent and accountable administration which works for the betterment and welfare of the common citizen. She said that preamble of the constitution starts with the word, “we the People of India…” This clearly shows that the fountain head of all the powers is the people of this Country. An important step for Good Governance is simplification of procedures and processes in the Government so as to make the entire system transparent and faster. “Citizen-First” should be our mantra, our motto and our guiding principle. The Public leaders are the bridge between the citizens and the Government and thus the responsibility lies on our shoulders to bring government closer to our citizens, so that they become active participants in the governance process, Said Dr Shehnaz.

The slow pace of work on University campus is another issue, which speaks of the sincerity of the Governments towards youth who want to pursue their higher education. Over the years the people have received nothing but the false promises, be it employment or establishing the skill development centres in the area. Dr Ganai on the occasion took up the matter with Secretary Higher Education for Completion of the University Campus in Poonch, who assured that she will see the issue of re-appropriation of funds for the University Campus Poonch. Dr Ganai on the occasion launched the web portal Hamari Aawaz “hamaraiaawaz.com” designed especially for facilitating the people of Poonch to highlight their issues/ problems which would be forwarded to the concerned authorities for redressal. This would definitely prove to be a step towards reaching to the public and bringing governance at the doorsteps. Dr Ganai urged the young brigade to send the messages and upload their problems over the portal so as to make the administration more accountable and responsive towards the problems being faced by the public. Further saying Dr Ganai said that www.hamariaawaz.com is a  platform for the people of Poonch/Mandi where they can register and forward their issues/problems by use of technology. A good platform where the youth can discuss and highlight their experiences for better understanding the problems which would facilitate in reaching to public in an effective way. Draft your agenda, report your problems, plan an interactions are some of the best things that are on the website which the youth of Poonch should use.
