Div Com reviews status of mega Developmental Projects, meets public delegations at Rajouri

Emphasizes on promotion of jute, rajmash Cultivation in the region

Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma today reviewed the status of mega developmental projects being executed by different departments in this border district, here at a meeting.District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad heads of line departments, besides engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD,   Tourism, Irrigation, Flood Control, and RDD attended the meeting.The main focus was on the status and completion of languishing projects approved for the district.While reviewing the progress on GMC Rajouri, the Div Com was informed it is likely to be completed by end of September 2019.The Div com also reviewed the progress under PMGSY roads and bridges, health education, sericulture, horticulture, KVIB and agriculture sector.The Div com advised the agriculture and horticulture to increase the area under Rajma, jute and walnut cultivation as some parts of the district have high potential for these crops.Emphasizing on need for convergence, he asked the chief planning officer to prepare a plan of sericulture and horticulture in convergence with RDD and plant a maximum of 1 lakh saplings of mulberry, this year.A detailed discussion was held on various issues related to the effective implementation of vital schemes in the district. 

Earlier, the DDC informed that 16 bridges worth Rs. 27.62 crore and 61 roads costing Rs. 97.97 crore have been approved under the languishing projects for the district.In PHE sector, 34 schemes stand approved under the languishing projects for which Rs. 31.02 crore has been released, while 43 projects worth Rs. 2.31 crore have been sanctioned in PHE Mechanical and 13 schemes worth Rs. 9.48 crore have been approved for I&FC sector languishing projects.Similarly, 10 languishing projects worth Rs. 1.61 crore have been sanctioned in the education sector.It was informed that the work on all the approved bridges and other projects has been started and is at different phases of execution.Later, several public delegations including Panchayat  and Municipal committee members, traders’ representatives and others met with the Div Com and sought  hassle free execution of the developmental projects and their timely completion.They also sought better road connectivity, park facility, adequate power and drinking water supply, adequate health care and sanitation facilities, waste management and construction of warehouse and street lighting.Responding to the issues raised by the delegations, the Div Com asked the DDC to identify land for the construction of warehouse , slaughter and garbage dumping site  in the outskirt of the city  and submit the detailed project report in this regard.Regarding construction of Salani road, the Div Com directed REW to transfer the road to PWD for further work and instructed the PWD authorities to put in languishing projects for funding. He also instructed to submit a proposal of at least 15 such projects where funding is required.Taking note of District Early intervention centre, the Div Com advised DDC to constitute a monitoring cell for immediate information dissemination. He also directed the district statistical officer to conduct a survey about number of case referred, number of cases treated and time period between refer and treatment.IGP Jammu, M K Sinha, DIG Rajouri Poonch range Deepak Slathia ,SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas was also present in the meeting.
