Ramban DDC tours Gool areas

District Development Commissioner, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today conducted an extensive tour of various areas of Gool to assess the demands and problems of the people and review preparedness of district administration to deal prevailing inclement weather.Accompanied by ADDC Nawab Din, Tehsildar Gool Mohammad Ashraf, Executive Engineers of PDD, PWD, PHE and PMGSY besides other concerned officers, the DDC met newly elected Panchayat members and listened  to  the people’s issues.He impressed upon the Sarpanchs and Panchs to make the local public aware about the benefits of welfare schemes of different departments. He informed that the administration is focusing on completion of road projects to provide better connectivity to far-flung areas such as Mahakund, Chachwah and Ind besides establishing a horticulture demonstration plant in the area for developing the area as Horticulture hub.Earlier, people of the area apprised the DDC of various demands and problems being faced by them including shortage of drinking water, irregular power supply, shortage of medical staff at health centres, irregularity in old age pensions etc. They also sought blacktopping of roads,development of play fields, land compensation, employment for local youth in ongoing mega projects.

The DDC assured the public that all their genuine demands would be fulfilled in a phased manner.Responding to certain issues, the DDC directed the SDMs and Tehsildars to remain alert towards the weather prediction for the next few days and ensure that the action plan for restoration of basic services/supplies is implemented in synergy and coordination with all the line departments on real time basis. He directed to keep control rooms functional round the clock to deal with any emergency.Meanwhile, the DDC took stock of preparedness for snow clearance, availability of essential commodities including ration, K-Oil, LPG etc. and arrangements for restoration of water supply schemes, power supply, traffic management and other important issues.He impressed upon the officers to redouble their efforts to mitigate the problems of the people, conduct regular field visits and be accessible to the general public for addressing their grievances.
