CGC Landran becomes member of MHRD-AICTE’s Institution Innovation Council

Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran has been selected as a member of Institution Innovation Council (IIC), an initiative of the innovation cell of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). Established at the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) by the MHRD, the innovation cell aims to systematically encourage the culture of Innovation in all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across India.Becoming an IIC member gives added impetus to CGC’s ongoing efforts to foster a culture of research and innovation among students. It is worth mentioning that the institution has filed close to 1,000 research and 200+ patents and was ranked 7th among India’s top ten institutions for filing patents. It was also chosen as one of the 28 nodal centres in across the country for the MHRD-AICTE backed, national level Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2018 for the second consecutive year.IIC will help students from HIEs to develop a scientific temperament while aiding the HEIs to promote an innovation promotion eco-system in their campuses thereby facilitating holistic development of students.Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran expressed their appreciation of the MHRD and the AICTE for this progressive initiative which they added would go a long way in strengthening higher education in the country. “Encouraging experiential learning, intense focus on research and innovation has been the hallmark of CGC’s eighteen year long legacy. Becoming a member of IIC would reinforce our ongoing efforts in this direction,” they added.
