Vigilance nabs Head Constable, Accountant for taking bribes in two different cases

State Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed head constable (HC) Sukhwinder Singh and Accountant Chamkaur Singh red handed while accepting bribes in two different cases.Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said HC Sukhwinder Singh posted at Police Station Sohana in SAS Nagar district was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Gurjit Singh of village Dubhali in Fetehgarh Sahib district. The Complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused police official was demanding Rs 10,000 for helping him in obtaining bail from the court, he informed that the deal was struck at Rs. 6,000 and had already paid Rs. 3,000 as a first installment.After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused HC was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 3,000 of second installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.It may be mentioned here that a case of cheating was registered last year in police station city Kharar, SAS Nagar against HC Sukhwinder Singh and his wife Balwinder Kaur, who is also a lady HC in Mohali police. They were dismissed from service at that time, but were reinstated later after court’s order.In another first of its kind bribery case, an Accountant Chamkaur Singh posted at Guru Hargobind College of Nursing Raikot, Ludhiana district was nabbed red handed for accepting bribe on the complaint of Gurmeet Singh Dhillon of village Binjal, Ludhiana district.The Complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused accountant was demanding Rs 5,000 to provide documents for his daughter who had finished her BSc. nursing course from this college.After verifying his information, the Vigilance team from EOW wing Ludhiana laid a trap and the accused Accountant was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.It may be mentioned here that the officials employed in the private institutions could also be booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act as they are dealing with public.He informed that cases under different sections of prevention of corruption act have been registered against both the accused at VB police station SAS Nagar and Ludhiana respectively and further investigations were under progress.
