Deputy Commissioner Barnala launches Potential Linked Credit Plan for district

To enable optimum utilization of financial resources, the Potential Linked Credit Plan (PLP) for Barnala District for the year 2019-20, prepared by NABARD, was launched by Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharam Pal Gupta in the presence of senior officials of district administration, RBI, NABARD, DIC & other bankers.Mr. Gupta informed that the total credit potential under priority sector for 2019-20 has been estimated at Rs. 5,780 crore for the district at an increase of about 5%. He added that the exercise of PLP preparation is being undertaken by NABARD since 1989-90 for all districts of the country with an objective to assess exploitable potential through credit dispensation under various sectors. He also expressed concern about the low growth in Long-Term credit in Agriculture even though progress under Crop Loan has been satisfactory.DDM NABARD, Mr. Manavpreet Singh informed that PLP was prepared systematically adopting participative and consultative approach, involving various stake holders in the agriculture and rural development as per the priority sector guidelines issued by the RBI. He added that potential in PLP is based upon Scale of Finance and approved unit cost.On this occasion, Manu Bharadwaj from RBI, Lead Bank Manager Tarlochan Singh, Deputy LDM Satish Kumar among various others were also present.
