So much for Punjab to cheer about rail budget: Capt Amarinder Singh

Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today hailed a series of measures announced by the Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal for Punjab, particularly bringing the Takhat Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo on the railway map of the country.In a statement issued here today, Capt Amarinder congratulated the Railway Minister Mr Bansal for bringing in a people friendly budget besides introducing new trains and commitment to improve the facilities in the railways. He said, it was for the first time there was so much for Punjab to cheer about the railway budget.The PCC president specially thanked the Railway Minister for bringing the Takhat Damdama Sahib, one of the five sacred Takhats, on the railway map of the country. He said, of the five Takhats, Takhat Damdama Sahib was the only Takhat that was not connected by the railways.

He said, after the setting up of the rail link between Rama Mandi and Maur Mandi via Talwandi Sabo as has been proposed in the railway budget, all the Takhats will be connected with each other by railway line. Capt Amarinder also thanked the railway minister for announcing to upgrade various railway stations in Punjab, Linking Patti and Ferozepur which will shorten the distance between Amritsar and Ferozepur, skill development institute at Pathankot and an additional weekly train between Chandigarh and Amritsar.
