A cycle rally as part of Swasth Bharat-Tandrust Punjab Yatra was flagged off by Civil Surgeon Mohali Dr. Rita Bhardwaj and Dr. Anup Kumar, Joint Director, Food Safety, Punjab, to proceed towards Chandigarh.The Swasth Bharat Yatra-Tandrust Punjab Yatra had reached Mohali on December 24 and has now left for Chandigarh. Dr Rita Bhardwaj said that the purpose of this national health awarness campaign is to promote the Eat Right India Movement so that people may get aware about safe and healthy food habits. She said that the yatra which started on October 16 from various cities in the country would culminate on January 27 in New Delhi.In Punjab the cycle rallies are being organised in collaboration the Mission Tandrust Punjab.Dr. Bhardwaj said the idea behing the program is to spread the message of eat safe and eat healthy. 

The Yatra was welcomed in Mohali from Ludhiana on December 24. Today the cyclists from Lawrence Public School, Mohali became part of the yatra and headed towards Chandigarh. She said that several awareness sessions for vendors selling eatables, hotel and restaurant owners were organised in several parts of the city during the last three days. The team members of the yatra educated the people about food safety and measuers to remain healthy. Bhardwaj said that the Swasth Bhart Yatra has been organised by the Food Safety and Standards authority of India (FSSAI). She said that more than 7500 volunteer cyclists will cover about 18000 Km in various cities of the country to spread the message of healthy food habits.
