Lulu Group To Explore Export Potential Of Agro Products From Punjab To UAE

Concludes Two-Day Visit By Holding Meetings With Representatives Of Agro-Based Industry

A two-day follow up visit of UAE-India partnership summit at Dubai by Lulu Group International on Saturday concluded with the high-level delegation that accepted proposals for export of agro products and processed food to UAE and urged the representatives of agro and food processing industry to dispatch the product samples for exploring its export potential.The Group led by its Chief Executive Officer Saifee Rupawala, COO Saleem VI, Directors Salim and Ananth, Regional Director Rejith RK, Buying Manager Zulfiker K and Manager PDD Shamim S accompanied by the officials of Invest Punjab held marathon discussions with the key players of industry in both private and public sector.During deliberations with the representatives of Lulu group, the MD Markfed Varun Roojam apprised them that the honey being produced by markfed has been processed after introducing bar coding technology at back end level ensuring traceability and won the gold medal for achieving that. The Group expressed its keen interest to get the Honey packed in their brand name from markfed.

Further, during meeting with MD PAIC Rahul Gupta, the delegation has asked PAIC for pricing of Certified Organic Brown Basmati, Atta and Kinnows.

Meanwhile, the CEO Invest Punjab Rajat Aggarwal said that the visit of the Group would be instrumental in bringing huge investment in the state thereby propelling overall industrial growth besides providing remunerative prices for their crops, once the export takes off. He said that the Lulu Group had also shown considerable interest to come up with an integrated project including a mega shopping & convention centre and hotel, which would further supplement state’s efforts to attract huge investments in Punjab.The CEO further pointed out that the Group was moreover satisfied after having visiting some prominent sites in Mohali for their proposed integrated project and desired a chunk of nearly 25 acres of land for setting up of integrated project. Besides this, the Lulu Group International having a network of 157 retail shopping centres in Gulf and other countries also showed enormous interest for making investment in a meat manufacturing facility in Punjab spread over nearly 50 acres of land.The Delegation held 15 one-to-one meetings with the representatives of various industries during its two-day visit to further explore the possibilities of export potential of their products besides developing synergy between the Group and local industry of the state.
