The 29th Lal Bahadur Shastri Hockey Tournament was today inaugurated by the Education Minister, Punjab, Mr. Om Prakash Soni at Hockey Stadium, Sector 42.Addressing on the occasion, Mr. Om Prakash Soni said that Lal Bahadur Shastri ji made significant contribution to the progress of the country. Mr. Shastri did a lot of work for the welfare of farmers, youth and sportsmen of the country. Congratulating the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hockey Tournament Committee for organizing this tournament, the Minister said that the committee is rendering a great service to the national game of hockey through such initiatives and contributing towards producing the best players for the country. On the occasion, Mr. Anil Shastri, son of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Mr. Kamal Chaudhary former Member Parliament, Mr. Rajinder Singh Former DGP, Mr. Jagdeep Singh Sidhu, OSD to the Chief Minister, Punjab, Advocate VP Singh, Kapil Dev Prashar Secretary and Anil Vohra were also present.In this tournament, eight popular sports teams of the country are participating such as Air India, CISF, Chandigarh, Eleven, BSF, PNB, EME and the Punjab Police. The tournament will be held from December 17, 2018 to December 23, 2018.
