DC Anantnag reviews special summary revision of electoral rolls

The Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammed Younis Malik, who is also the District Election Officer, Anantnag today convened a meeting of AROs & AEROs here to review the progress achieved under the special summary revision of Electoral Rolls – 2018 in District Anantnag.The revised schedule for Special Summary Revision has been extended to December 23, 2018, and the disposal of claims/ objections will be made up to 12th of January, 2019 and the final publication of Electoral Rolls will be made on 22nd of January, 2019.An awareness programme under Special Summary Revision Programme – 2018 will be held at Anantnag in which all the BLOs will participate.The Deputy Commissioner directed the EROs and AEROs to ensure the participation of physically challenged people to exercise their franchise at the polling stations and directed for providing all necessary facilities including transport and ramping at the polling station. He sought cooperation from all the political parties for submitting the lists of Booth Level Agents and to ensure the registration of new voters in the district.

He also stressed upon the EROs and AEROs to mobilize all BLOs for making additions and also to engage Nambardars and Chokidars in the process. The meeting was attended ADC, Anantnag, ACR Anantnag, Deputy District Election Officer Anantnag, SDMs of Doru/ Pahalgam and by the representatives of political parties including BJP, NC, Congress, PDP, CPIM, BSP.Later the Deputy Commissioner convened a meeting at Verinag under SVEEP programme to sensitize the BLOs of Doru and Verinag Education Zones regarding Special Summer Revision of Electoral Rolls – 2018.He reviewed the progress of additions made till date and directed for speedy registration of left out voters in their areas. Emphasizing on the importance of Special Summary Revision, the Deputy Commissioner directed for the door to door survey to ensure the registration of all voters. He said that a target of 3500 additions has to be made in the Dooru assembly segment. He directed the SDM Dooru to ensure full registration of voters under Special Summary Revision.The SVEEP programme & meeting was attended by SDM Dooru, Nodal Officer SVEEP, Tehsildar Doru & all BLOs of Education Zones of Doru & Verinag.
