Sarita Chauhan chairs SLCC meet on setting up IIT, IIM

A meeting of the State Level Co-ordination Committee to resolve inter-departmental issues for setting up of Central Government funded institutions like IIT and IIM in the State was chaired by Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, Sarita Chauhan.The meeting was attended by Sameer Bharti, Conservator of Forests, Jammu, Manoj Gaur, Director, IIT, Jammu, Ashok Gandotra, Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu, Sudhir Gupta, Chief Engineer, EM&RE (PDD), Jammu, Sudhir Shah, Chief Engineer, PW (R&B) Jammu, Sat Paul, DFO, Jammu, and Naresh Kumar, OSD, IIT, Jammu besides the officers of the Higher Education Department.During the meeting, various issues relating to the construction of boundary walls, providing electricity and water supply, road connectivity to the institutions were discussed. After threadbare discussion it was decided that the PW(R&B) Department Jammu shall share all designs / drawings of the roads, etc with PDD/PHE for proper installation of electricity/water supply to IIT/IIM campuses. The Department shall also pace up the work of boundary wall of IIM and pending works inside IIT campuses and shall conduct survey for alternate road at land site of IIM, Jammu and submit proposal / design within 10 days positively.The Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu shall speed up pending work of water supply project in IIT campus. Director Colleges, J&K and Nodal Principal Jammu were directed to complete all formalities and takeover the possession of land of IIM, Jammu from Forest Department (DFO, Jammu).It was also decided that IIM, Jammu shall provide layout of the construction plan to the Forest Department for construction activities on the ground.
