The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today felicitated Executive Engineer (XEN) of Public Works Department Mr. Saravraj Singh, who had achieved a rare feat in recently concluded TRIATHLON (Half Ironman) Championship at New Delhi.The XEN completed the overall championship in record 7:08 hours. During the championship in which 250 athletes from across the six countries, the competitors vied in three events viz. swimming, cycling and running. In total the competitors participating in these events were to cover 1900 metres swimming, 94.7 kilometre cycling and 20.01 kilometre in 8: 10 hours.Participating in the event Mr. Sarvraj Singh completed 1900 metre swimming in 1:05 minutes, 94.7 kilometre cycling in 3:44 hours and 20.1 kilometre running in 2:02 hour thereby emerging as fastest half ironman from Punjab state.Meanwhile, complementing the XEN for the rare feat, the Deputy Commissioner said that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction that the officer has excelled in this event. He said that despite of his hectic schedule Mr. Sarvraj has been able to leave his mark in this competition due to his sheer hard work and commitment. Mr. Sharma expressed hope that the XEN would inspire the other officers and youngsters from the state for achieving such distinctions in life.On the occasion, District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr. Ajay Kumar, XEN PWD Mr. Ginder Singh and others were also present.
