Three militants, army man killed in twin encounters in South Kashmir

Three militants, army man killed in two different encounters in South Kashmir’s Kulgam and Pulwama district on Tuesday.Reports reached to VMS, that a joint team of army's 1RR, 163 Bn CRPF and SOG launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the Redwani area of Qaimoh Kulgam.While the forces intensified searches towards suspected house the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering a gunfight.In the initial exchange of fire, Army man of 1RR sustained injuries. He was evacuated to the hospital where he succumbed. Besides, two jawans of 163 Bn CRPF sustained minor injuries in the encounter. In this gunfight two militants of Lashkar e Toiba have been killed and identified as Ajaz Ahmad Makroo son of Late Ghulam Rasool Makroo resident of Qaimoh and Waris Ahmad Malik son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Arwani, police official to VMS.Ajaz Makroo as per police records had a long history of militancy records since 2017. He was a close associate of militant commanders Naveed Jat and Azad Dada. Several cases were registered against him and the prominent among them include FIR No. 60/2016, FIR No. 45/2017, FIR No. 100/2017, FIR No. 10/2018, FIR No. 13/2018 registered at Police Station Kulgam. Similarly, Waris was also figured in several militancy cases.

Moreover, a militant killed in an encounter in Hafoo Reshipora Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday morning.A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Reshipora  after a joint team of army's 42RR, 180 BN CRPF and SOG launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of Militants in the Hafoo area.As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.In this gunfight a militant Zakir Musa led group Ansar Ul Ghazwatul Hind was killed and identified as Shakir Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Hassan Dar resident of Rathsuna Tral, police spokesman said VMS in a statement.According to police, Shakir was wanted by law for his complicity in series of militancy crimes including attacks on security establishments and civilian atrocities.Police has separately registered a case in both encounters. Huge quantity of arms & ammunition including rifles were recovered from the encounter sites at Tral and Kulgam. All these materials have been taken in the case records for further investigation and probe their complicity in other militancy cases. (VMS)
