Rejuvenation of Sugar Mills will be done & pending payment of sugarcane farmers will be cleared within one and half month. In this regard, Rs. 25 crore will be released every week. This was stated by Cooperative Minister Punjab Sr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa while addressing the concluding ceremony of 65th All India Cooperative Week at Kisan Vikas Chamber SAS Nagar.Addressing the program, Sr. Randhawa said that Department of Cooperation will strengthen the societies and will lay new directions for development through skill development as per demand which will provide technical knowledge to the youngsters and maximum employment opportunities will be generated for unemployed youth. He said that cooperative department will not tolerate any kind of corruption, because this department is directly linked with people at grass route level and people cooperation is must for giving a better direction to department. He said that strict action will be taken against loan defaulters who are financially string and has taken loan from cooperative banks. He said that any kind of embezzlement will not be accepted at any cost.Cooperative Minister said that special efforts will be made for the betterment of the cooperative societies Sr. Randhawa said that for better management of paddy stubble, 10 thousand modern equipments worth Rs. 94 crore subsidy, has been provided to cooperative societies. He said that subsidy will also be given to cooperative societies for some other equipment.

Addressing the program Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Labour Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that cooperative societies are the backbone of farmers in state. This department plays as important role for farmer to make them overcome from financial crunch. As such, special emphasis will be given for marketing of products prepared by cooperative societies. He said that with the selling of produce prepared by cooperative societies the income of farmers will increase which will help them to adopt crop diversification rather than cultivating traditional crops. Addressing the program Registrar Cooperative Societies Sh. Vikas Garg said that activities of stubble burning have been reduced by providing subsidised machinery to cooperative societies.During this better performing officers of the department and representatives of cooperative societies were honoured.  During the program Dr. Harshinder Kaur informed about the problem being faced by punjab and also gave suggestions for betterment of the state. During this Minister Cooperative Societies Sr. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa visited the exhibition of products prepared by Self Help Groups and cooperative institutions.During the program MD Sugarfed Davinder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sh. Amardeep Singh Bains, MD Punjab State Cooperative Bank Limited Sh. S. K. Batish, Joint  Registrar Cooperative Societies Patiala Division Darshan Singh Gill, Deputy Registrar Mohali Abhitesh Singh Sandhu, District Manager SAS Nagar Central Cooperative Bank Limited Smt. Pragati Jagga along with other officials were present.
