DPR completed for construction of road from Bara-Bhangal to Holi : Manisha Nanda

Additional Chief Secretary, PWD Manisha Nanda today held meeting with the Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers of all Zones of the Public Works department of the state to review the progress made under various schemes.The officers of all the zones gave detailed presentations on the works being undertaken and progress made under PMGSY, Central Road Fund, NABARD and state budget for construction of roads, bridges, tarring and mettaling. Manisha Nanda said that detailed project report for the ambitious 21 kilometers long road project to connect Bara Bhangal remote area of Kangra district to Holi in Chamba has been prepared.She said matter would be raised with the government of India for funding of Rs. 27 crores for this project under PMGSY. She said this road would help in facilitating the people of the area during any natural calamity.She directed the officers to identify two-three road projects in their zones on which work can be undertaken through bio-engineering technique. She said Chief Minister's announcements should be given utmost priority and all works should be completed in a stipulated time period.

Manisha Nanda also asked to give special emphasis on land acquisition cases and ensure quality control in all projects. She said that the department is working in the direction of switching over to computerization which would go a long way in strengthening and maintaining transparency in departmental working.The Additional Chief Secretary said that 374 kms long motorable roads, 24 bridges have been constructed till 30 September, 2018 during the current financial year whereas tarring was done on 736 kms and cross drainage facility was provided on 429 kms roads during this period. Besides, periodical renewal coat was done on 1850 kms roads and 25 new villages have been connected.Engineer-in-Chief's RP Verma and Ashoka Chauhan and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
