Govt. to encourage Mahila Mandals for protecting abandoned cattle : Jai Ram Thakur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while participating in the  ‘Gopaasthami’ celebrations organised by Kamanapurni Gaushala Samiti at Tutu near Shimla today said that the state government has constituted the Gau Vansh Sanrakshan Board for protecting the ‘Gau Vansh’ in the state. He said that soon after assuming office, the state government also decided that 15 percent from the offerings of major temples of the state would be earmarked towards construction, maintenance and running of Gau-Sadans. He said that rupees one was also being levied as cess from sale of each bottle of alcohol as Gau Vansh Vikas cess. The amount so collected would be used for construction and maintenance of cow sanctuary and Gau Sadans in the state, he added.The Chief Minister said that the state government was committed to promote natural farming in the state for which provision of Rs. 25 crore has been made in the budget. He said that for natural farming, it was essential to rear indigenous cows. He said that cow sanctuary would be constructed in Sirmour district and more such cow sanctuaries and Gau Sadans would be established in the all the districts.

Jai Ram Thakur said that government would also encourage Mahila Mandals for protecting abandoned cattle and for which they would be provided suitable grant. He said that two best panchayats in every development block where all cattle are registered and tattooed and owners do not abandon their cattle thus making the panchayat free of abandoned cattle will be provided a cash award of Rs. 10 lakh each.He announced that a Subzi Mandi would be constructed in the area for facilitating the vegetable growers.The Chief Minister also participated in the ‘Puran Ahuti Hawan’ and ‘Gau Puja’ ceremony on the occasion.BJP leader from Shimla Rural Assembly Constituency Dr. Pramod Sharma said that the state was forging ahead on the path of progress and prosperity under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. He also urged the Chief Minister to construct a modern Sabzi Mandi in the area for the welfare of the farmers.President Kamanapurni Gaushala Samiti at Tutu Surinder Kumar welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. He highlighted various activities of the Samiti. Students of the local school presented a skit on the occasion.Wife of the Chief Minister Dr. Sadhna Thakur, President Vishav Hindu Parishad Aman Puri, Mayor Kusum Sadrate, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma, Councillors Kiran Bawa, Vivek and V.D. Sharma were present on the occasion among others.
