DC Kargil reviews poll arrangements for 1st phase of Panchayat Polls

Deputy Commissioner (DC) and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal who is also the District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Kargil today reviewed the arrangements for the first phase of polling in Lungnak, Drass, Tai Suru and Barsoo blocks of the district.Superintendent of Police Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Deputy District Election Officer Kargil Nargis Banoo, District Panchayat Officer Shabir Hussain, Returning Officers of the 1st phase and other concerned officers of the Civil and Police administration were present in the meeting.Issues with regard to the deployment of polling parties for the polling stations, distribution of election materials, counting plan, transport plan and other related issues came were thoroughly discussed.The DC took brief from the Returning Officers about the number of Sarpanch and Panch Halqas going for polls on the day of polling and instructed them to visit their allotted Halqas well in advance in order to get detailed on spot assessment of accessibility, security, counting plan as well as heating and lighting arrangements required during polling and counting. He also instructed the ROs to submit the layout plan of counting centres to Election Centre well in advance.While taking brief about the transport plan, the DC directed the ARTO Kargil to ensure that an adequate number of vehicles are arranged so that the polling parties reach their allotted polling centres in a smooth and satisfactory manner.The DC also directed the Dy SP Telecom Kargil to ensure that proper communication system is maintained at all polling stations so that the hourly polling reports could be compiled well in time.Meanwhile, the necessary arrangements for airlifting of polling staff, security personnel and election material to the far off and remote polling stations also came up for discussion.
