Mansa DC honour 200 farmers for not burning paddy stubble

Appreciates them by offering certificates, Ask them to encourage other farmers as well

Deputy Commissioner Mansa Apneet Riyait today honoured nearly 200 farmers for not burning paddy stubble this season at a function organized in the office of Chief Agriculture Officer.Speaking during the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the 200 farmers are honoured during the first round this season and more such agriculturalists would be honoured in the coming days.She said that these farmers have shown the courage to shun the path of fire to grow next crop as they have helped in reducing the level of pollution which is mixing poison of smoke in the air.Apneet Riyait said that farmers who do not burn the paddy stubble are able to save the amount of money to be spent upon fertilizers and pesticides later on burnt soil. “Let’s all pledge today to save our environment by encouraging other farmers and increase the number of those farmers who are not burning their stubble,” she said.She appreciated the small and marginal farmers who promised not to burn the paddy stubble and stated that the trend of not burning the paddy stubble is rising day by day.Speaking during the occasion Chief Agriculture Officer Guraditta Sidhu also shared his experiences and offered tips to increase the per acre yield of various crops and shed light upon the bad consequences of burning paddy stubble.He said that the burning of paddy stubble is not only playing havoc with our health but it also contributes to the increasing road accidents.Later the Guraditta showed the laboratories to the Deputy Commissioner where soil and water testing is being done.Among others who were also present during the occasion included Dr. Dunger Singh, Dr. Chamandeep Singh, Dr. Bheem Avtar, ADO Jhunir Dr. Ravinder Sidhu, ADO Mansa Dr. Jasleen Kaur, ADO Mansa Sikandar Singh, ADO Budhlada Pardeep Singh and progressive farmers.
