Ayushman Bharat: ADC Bandipora launches awareness campaign

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir on Saturday launched an awareness campaign about Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana-Ayushman Bharat.The ADC also flagged off a specially decorated vehicle that will travel to every village to create awareness among the common masses about the scheme. Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr Bilkees Mir, District Program management unit NHM and other health officials were present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion, ADC Bandipora said that the centrally sponsored scheme aims to provide health insurance coverage of Rs five lakh per family annually to the families living Below Poverty Line (BPL). He said the scheme is aimed at providing health protection cover to poor and vulnerable families to reduce their out-of-pocket expenditure on healthcare.He said scheme provides cashless and paperless access to services for the bene?ciaries at the point of service in any empanelled hospitals (both in public and private sector) across the country. “The insurance coverage under AB-PMJAY will be Rs 5 lakh per family per annum with no cap on the family size. Every family under the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) database will be entitled to claim the bene?ts under the scheme with estimated 613648 families to be covered in J&K”.CMO Bandipora said the scheme covers 1350 medical packages covering surgery, medical and daycare treatments including medicines and diagnostics. He said the scheme is an attempt by the government to move from sectoral and segmented approach of health service delivery to a comprehensive need-based health care service.She said the officials will move to every village of the district and interact with the local people, representatives, civil society members, opinion makers to create awareness about the scheme so that the deserving people can avail benefit of the scheme.
