The Cabinet Ministers, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mr. Om Prakash Soni along with the Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar Mr. Karamjit Singh Rintu today visited the residence of deceased councilor Gurdeep Pehalwan and handed over the appointment letter to his daughter Harsimrat Kaur. It was in keeping with a promise made by the Punjab Government to give job to a family member of Gurdeep Pehalwan who was shot dead at Golbagh on 2nd June, 2018.On the occasion, Mr. Om Prakash Soni said that the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh had deputed them to hand over the appointment letter to the family. He also said that similarly, government job would also be given to the son of late Gurdeep Pehalwan on completion of the 18 years of age. He also announced that he would give Rs. 20000 every month from his personal account to the family of gurdeep pehalwan.

Navjot Singh Sidhu on the occasion said that said that the daughter of the deceased would be placed as per her qualification and all assistance with regard to her pursuance of higher education would also be provided. Divulging more, he said that he has identified 5 families whose kin were killed in the rail tragedy and who don’t have any breadwinner as of now. He further said that he would give Rs. 10000 per month to one such affected family and Rs. 7500 per month from his own pocket to the other 4 families to keep their home fires burning. Disclosing more, he said that he has noted account numbers of these victim families and the amount would be transferred into their accounts on the 1st of every month. He further elaborated that he is gathering details about the other families too whose kin were killed in the tragedy. He assured that the families having no earning members would receive financial assistance from him every month.During the occasion, Councillor Mr. Vikas Soni was also present.
