Teams Of PPCB Continue To Visit Fields, Exhorting Farmers To Manage Stubble

On the directions of Punjab Government to persuade the farmers for adopting paddy straw management and shunning the stubble burning,  various  teams of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) continue to visit the fields and exhorting the farmers to manage the crop residues instead of burning  which poses serious risks to the environment and health of people.A team led by Executive Engineer Arun Kumar Kakkar along with Assistant  Executive Engineer (AEE) Mr Sandeep Kumar visited Jhalla Singh, Cheema, Amabgarh, Bhate, Faridpur and Mand Maur villages. Another team led by   AEE Ravideep Singla held talks with the farmers of the Rupowal, Saidowal, Bahadurpur, Muthada kalan, Akalpur, Masopur, Anihar, Apra, Bhangli and  Birk over the ill-effects of burning the straw burning.Similarly, third team also inspected the fields in villages including Chuharwali, Chamo, Kandola,  Damunda, Nangal Aariyan, Khingra Choe, Jallowal and Beas Pind and met the farmers. 

Arun Kumar Kakkar told that farmers were guided to manage the stubble in their fields with the help of in-situ techniques. They were also told about the  orders issued by National Green Tribunal. He revealed the team members also detailed the farmers about I-Khet machine mobile through which the  farmers can have easy access to agricultural equipment for in-situ management of straws. Besides, they also informed them regarding “E-PEHaL” app  for monitoring tree plantation, and “e-Prevent” app to have prompt and accurate information regarding incidents of crop residue burning.These  applications would provide relevant information at the district, block and village levels, in English and Punjabi, he said and added that these apps have  been developed by Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, Ludhiana.Further, the teams also distributed pamphlets and posters for making the villagers aware  of the pollution caused by straw burning.
