DC Underlines Need For Celebrating Green And Eco-Friendly Diwali

Underlining the need for celebrating green and eco-friendly Diwali, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that it  was need of hour for preventing the cities from turning into gas chambers. Addressing the gathering during celebrations of Green Diwali at local HMV  College today, the Deputy Commissioner said that moderation in burning fire crackers was the need of the time to save environment. He said that as  the farmers of the state especially of Jalandhar have set an example by not burning paddy straw in the same manner all of us should also pledge not to  burst fire crackers during the coming Diwali as it causes a huge noise and sound pollution. Mr. Sharma said that on the coming Diwali all of us should  light lamp of compassion and let it spread everywhere.The Deputy Commissioner said that all of us should plant a sapling on the upcoming Diwali and  try to celebrate Green and prosperous Diwali. 

He said that celebrating a clean, green and pollution free Diwali was the need of the hour to check the everyday increasing pollution on one hand and  ensuring a healthy lifestyle on the other hand. Mr. Sharma said that every city resident must ensure that fewer crackers were busted on Diwali so that  noise and air pollution could be checked thereby contributing immensely in saving our planet.On the occasion Principal of the college Dr. Ajay Sareen  lauded the Deputy Commissioner for supporting such endeavors which were in the larger interest of the city.  She also assured fulsome support and  cooperation to the district administration for such noble causes. On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner also flagged off an awareness rally of  students to sensitize people for celebrating green Diwali.The students led by Deputy Commissioner also pledged to celebrate green and eco-friendly  Diwali. On the occasion Career Counselor Mr. Surjit Lal, Dean Innovation Dr. Ramnita Sharda, Dr. Anjana Bhatia and others were also present.
