Holds Review Meeting With Officials Of District Administration At Bachat Bhawan, Here Today

Punjab State Minorities Commissioner Chairman Munawar Masih today directed the officials of District Administration, Ludhiana to identify suitable land for burial grounds/graveyards in the district on priority basis. He has directed the officials to prepare a detailed report in this regard within a week.Mr Munawar Masih, along with Senior Vice Chairman Mr Tehsin Ahmed, Vice Chairman Mr Sanjeev Jain, and members Mr Albert Dua and Mr Abdul Shakoor Mangat today held a meeting regarding various issues related to the minority communities at Bachat Bhawan, here.While addressing the meeting, Mr Munawar Masih asked the District Administration officials to find suitable land for the burial grounds for the communities wherever it was required. He also asked them to find an alternate site for the burial ground/graveyard within the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation limits. He said that instead of the site on Tibba Road, an alternate site should be provided.MC Joint Commissioner Dr Poonam Preet Kaur has been directed to hold a meeting of the commission members on Monday, after which they would visit one such proposed site in Haibowal area of the city.Besides, Mr Masih also directed the officials to form a cluster of 5-6 villages and find common place where the burial ground can be developed. 

A matter related to issuing of “minority certificate” to the members of Jain community was also raised and the officials assured that this matter would also be dealt with on priority basis. The officials were also asked to find a suitable place for setting up of a Masih Bhawan, either in Sector 39 on Chandigarh Road or in Salem Tabri areas.The officials were also asked to organise awareness camps regarding various welfare schemes of the government for the prominent members of the minority communities so that a large number of people can be benefitted from them.Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr Shena Aggarwal asked the concerned officials to accord top most priority to settle the issues of the lands for burial grounds/graveyards for the minority communities especially for the christians and muslims. She assured the Chairman of early resolution of this issue.Dr Shena Aggarwal has directed the officials, including the DDPO and DDLG to prepare and submit a detailed report in this regard within a week. Besides, District Welfare Officer has been appointed as Nodal Officer for all issues related to the minority communities.Prominent among those who attended the meeting included SDM East Mr Amarjit Singh Bains, Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr Amrinder Singh Malhi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr Rattan Singh Brar, besides several others.
