The International-level Global Kabaddi League 2018, that is to take place in Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Mohali and the second round matches started from today onwards at the Hockey ground at Punjab Agricultural University, here. In Ludhiana, the matches would be held in the hockey ground of PAU from October 24-29, 2018.In the inaugural session, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu was the Chief Guest. In the opening match, Delhi Tigers defeated Haryana Lions by 55:49.Ravneet Singh Bittu informed that this league is being organised in the state under Mission Tandrust Punjab of the state government. He said that six kabaddi teams from across the globe namely Singh Warriors Punjab, Haryana Lions, Black Panthers, Delhi Tigers, Maple Leafs and California Eagles are competing.He informed that two matches each would be played everyday on October 24, 25, 26 and 29, while on October 27 & 28, three matches each would be played. The matches would start at 5 pm daily and would be held under flood lights.Bittu said that the finals of this league would be held in Mohali and the team standing first would get a cash award of Rs 1 crore, team standing second would get Rs 50 lakh and team standing third would get Rs 25 lakh. He said that 70 percent players in this league are new players and dope test is being done daily.

He informed that to promote sports amongst the youth, lucky draw for five mobile phones would be organised daily and a motorcycle would be given to winner of Lucy draw on final day. He informed that the coupons for lucky draw would be provided to the public at the entry gate and the lucky draw would be held at the end of matches everyday. He said that these coupons can be used for lucky draw of motorcycle as well.Prominent among those present on the occasion included MLAs Mr Amrik Singh Dhillon, Mr Kuldeep Singh Vaid and Mr Jagtar Singh Hissowal, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, Commissioner of Police Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, ADC (G) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Mr Surjit Singh Tut, Mr Amarjit Singh Tut, Mr Ranbir Singh Tut, Mr Yogesh Chhabra, Legal Advisor Mr Harpreet Sandhu, Mr Gurdev Singh Lapran, besides several others.During the inaugural function at Ludhiana today, Punjabi singer Parmish Verma enthralled the audience. The entry for the matches would be free on all days.
