Mega Legal Services- cum- Awareness Camp held at Kupwara

Under the aegis of NALSA and as per the directions of Chief Justice Gita Mittal, High Court Of Jammu and Kashmir and under the able leadership and guidance of Mr. Justice Alok Aradhe, Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority, A Mega Legal Services-Cum-Awareness Camp was organized today by Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kupwara, Mr. Mohammad Ibrahim Wani Principal District and Sessions Judge Kupwara, in collaboration with District Administration at TRC Complex, Kupwara.The camp was attended by District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir, Officers of various departments, Judicial Officers and officers of various banks, besides, a large number of local public including beneficiaries of different services rendered on spot.The camp was aimed to make general masses aware of their entitlements under the law and apprise them about the availability of free legal services, besides to connect them to several welfare schemes launched by Central and State governments.Stalls were installed by various departments including District Legal Services Authority, Social Welfare, Education, Labour, JK Bank, Grameen Bank, Agriculture, Health, Revenue, KVK, Municipal Committee, Fisheries, ICDS, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, PHE, Handloom, FCS & CA, Rural Development, SHG UMEED and JKEDI.
The departments on the occasion delivered their services wherein the Social Welfare Department provided 5 motorised tricycles, 5 hearing aids, 10 sticks and 4 wheel chairs to disabled persons, sanctioned 49 certificates to old age, 16 to physically challenged persons, cleared assistance to 44 widow cases and marriage assistance to 200 girls. In addition to it, 96 cases amounting to Rs 11.52 Lakh under MFCH were sanctioned and handed over to the beneficiaries. Similarly, 10 quintals potato seed, 2 quintal peas and 2 quintal oats seeds were distributed free of cost by KVK to 30 farmers of Machill Area. The Labour Department provided educational assistance of Rs 18876500 to 2554 registered construction workers of the district, while as aids and appliances were distributed by Education Department to 60 specially abled students studying in various schools. The Motor Vehicle Department provided the delivery by way of issuing, RCs, route permits and renewal of licenses, while as enrolment of AADHAAR was also demonstrated and done during the camp.While providing their delivery Lead Bank Manager and Cluster Head J&K Bank provided loan sanctions to 27 beneficiaries under priority sector and the Grameen Bank issued 35 sanction letters on the spot. The department of Agriculture provided tool kits to the farmers on 50% subsidy, while as the Horticulture Department provided 22 tool kits free of cost to the farmers. The Department of FCS & CA also provided 20 gas connections free of cost under UJWALA Scheme. As many as 30 registered fishermen were provided Nylon-twine free of cost by the Fisheries Department.
Whiles the Revenue Department issued PRCs, Income Certificates and Category Certificates etc. during the camp. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry also registered the farmers and provided them with dosing, de-worming and other medicines for livestock.Speaking on the occasion the DDC congratulated the officers of the various departments for their participation and installation of their stalls at the event. He also appreciated the people who participated in the Mega Legal Services cum-Awareness-Camp. He urged the youth to avail benefits from welfare schemes launched by the government for overall development of the society. He said need of the hour is that the educated youth should open their ventures under various self-employment schemes to earn livelihood and also accommodate others in their business.Principal District and Sessions Judge on the occasion thanked the efforts of DDC, officers of various departments and Judiciary for their cooperation and tremendous support in holding such a Mega Legal Services cum Awareness Camp at the district headquarter. He also appreciated the people who participated in the Mega Legal Services Camp. He said that collective efforts and coordinated approach between the Judiciary and the District Administration made the event a success, with the result a good number of people were made aware about various hitherto less publicised schemes and programmes. Earlier, the speakers from various departments highlighted their programmes and schemes in vogue to sensitise, people during the camp.
