Punjab Vidhan Sabha leads in e-initiative

NeVA to bring all MLAs, MPs on one platform, 2-day workshop concludes in Punjab Assembly

The Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) of the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has conducted a two day workshop on the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), a app which will bring all the parliamentarians and legislators on one platform, in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on October 17 and 18.The Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, which is a Nodal Ministry for this ‘One Nation, One Application’ project, is hopeful that this application will lead to faster communication and decision making. This App is user friendly and easy to use not only by the Members of Legislatures but even by a layman. NeVA website and NeVA mobile App is available at iOS and Android platforms.The Punjab Vidhan Sabha has already earned kudos on this project with the House Secretary Mrs Shashi Lakhanpal Mishra bagging the top honour for the initiative taken in the NeVA project at the previous workshop held in New Delhi on September 24 and 25.

During the inaugural session of the workshop, NeVA Coordinator Arpit Tyagi and DBA Sujeet Kumar, who were deputed as resource persons by Central Project Management Unit under the Union Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, gave a brief account of the NeVA.During the Technical Session, they talked about Master Data Entry, Question Module, List of Business Module apart from showing live Demo Session for one day Data Entry.Notably, the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana K.P. Singh has shown keen interest in the computerisation and digitization of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha and is determined to go ahead with NeVA project. A Committee for Computerisation and Digitization of Punjab Vidhan Sabha is already working under the Chairmanship of the Speaker and the implementation of these projects is under the active consideration of the Committee.The workshop was attended by Secretary Punjab Vidhan Sabha Mrs Shashi Lakhanpal Mishra, Special Secretary of Punjab Parliamentary Affairs dept Mr. Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu (IAS), Deputy Secretary Mr Surinder Pal, Under Secretary Mr Ram Lok and Tarminder Singh of NIC Chandigarh unit besides representatives of Department of Governance Reforms, Punjab and National Informatics Centre, Punjab Unit.
