J&K bags 3 National Awards for impressive performance in Poshan Abhiyaan

Jammu and Kashmir today received three National Level Awards for impressive Implementation of Poshan Abhiyaan, in Jammu and Kashmir.Poshan Abhiyaan, Prime Minister’s Overarching programme on holistic Nourishment, which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 8th of March 2018 to reduce Malnutrition @ 2% per annum from the Country . The State has got recognition from the Union Government with the State bagging three National Awards at a function held at Hotel Ashok New Delhi on 10th of October 2018.The State Mission Director ICDS Sh Vir Ji Hangloo, said that it is a matter of pride for the ICDS J&K, that the efforts of ICDS have been recognized at National level which will further instill confidence among ICDS staff in achieving the targets in a time bound manner.The awards were presented by the Vice Chairman Niti Ayog, Dr Rajiv Kumar and Sh Rakesh Srivastava, Secretary Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Dr Rajesh Kumar Mission Director Poshan Abhiyaan & Joint Secretary Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India and other dignitaries.  

The State award was given to State Mission Director, Sh Vir Ji Hangloo for Innovation and best use of non conventional methods, to reach to the public and spread awareness on all themes such as Nukad natak, Folk songs, FM radio, Doordarshan etc. Under Leadership Category, the award was given to Ms Anjum Ganai, CDPO Mahore for best performance during Poshan Maah by mobilizing the  support of village level public influencers like Ex Panches/Sarpanches,  Religious Heads, Local political leader in reaching to the public and thus playing a key role in providing awareness and reaching to the public effectivelly and making them undestand the effects of malnutrition.The individual award was given to Smt Kulsoom Banoo, Anganwadi Worker Mahore.The award ceremony was held by the Ministry of Women and Child at Hotel Ashoka, New Delhi. Pertinently, the state begged these awards after competing with other States which was done by a National Level Selection Committee to evaluate the performance of all States in implementation of the Poshan Abhiyaan Scheme on various identifiable parameters.
