Five years on women's model degree college sans facilities, functions from middle school

Government Model Women's Degree College at salkoote village in district kupwara awaits completion for five years now, over 700  students facing difficulties for want of proper infrastructure and facilities.The foundation stone of the building was laid some five years back, The building is still incomplete, Locals told (KNO). At present model women's college is functioning from a middle school complex, same practice has entered sixth year now, Locals told (KNO). Students of the college said that, They are facing lots of problems due to poor infrastructure and facilities unavailable for years now. With no proper infrastructure, lone  washroom for female students, Middle school students and college students use same washroom, There is always mess of small kids, College students  said. Swach Baharat mission has failed to facilitate the institution. Students of the college said that, they are facing lots of problems due to poor infrastructure and facilities unavailable for years now. With no proper infrastructure, lone washroom for female students, Middle school students and college students use same washroom, there is always mess of small kids, College students said. It's really difficult to accommodate here along middle school students, the atmosphere always remains disturbing, loud cries and other immature activities of students are hard to endure during college hours, College students cried out.The student strength of this college is 700 female students and the teaching staff is about 16 which comprises of six permanent and nine contractual teachers. The college also sans a permanent principal.There is no waiting hall or either resting place where we could spent leisure time, nor there is any proper ground for sports activities.Both College students and middle school students are forced to use single small shameless ground, College Students said. The vicinity never felt like we are in the college, atmosphere is always disturbing, open surroundings complex along forest, human wild animal conflict is always a threat, students said. Enrolment in Government middle school has come down gradually after college started to function in the same building, a teacher at government middle school said. 

Middle school students in nature are out of control, it's hard to tackle them out of classrooms, which becomes hurdle for college students as well, The teacher added. Classrooms allotted for college functioning lag proper infrastructure, Somewhere the rooftops are broken, Dust and other irritating material always sneaks into the classrooms while studying inside, college Students cried out.Neither proper lecture rooms nor full-fledged library has been availed so far, unstable White marker boards are problematic. Hardly all of us manage to sit on cracked wooden benches, Students said.College sans transport facility as well, the model women's college is located at Salkoote village about one kilometer away from main town kupwara. Construction of new complexes for Model College was started five years back in the native village Salkoote, about 17 kanals of agricultural land was availed for construction.JKPCC was awarded the construction work in year 2012 which is yet incomplete, Construction work is going on at slow pace, there has been time to time delay in construction work, locals said.I will look into the serious concern of decrease in number of enrolment; proper accommodation is prime focus for all the students, CEO Kupwara shafiq nabi said.If there is any problem from either of the side I will look into it to provide all basic facilities to students, he added.(KNO)
