Food Safety Team Inspects Bakeries, Sensitize Them Hygiene Practices

In a special drive initiated under Mission Tandarust Punjab, a food safety team led by District Health Officer Dr Balwinder Singh, Food Safety Officer (FSO) Dr Rashu Mahajan and others inspected various prominent bakeries of the city on Wednesday.A spokesperson said that the festive season is around the corner and the bakery products are also being purchased by people in large quantity in the season.He said that today's inspection was carried out to sensitize the manufacturers and their employees of hygiene practices while preparing the products. He said that team also apprised them about mandatory obtaining of a license or get registration under Food Safety Act.The team also sought cooperation from them for the compliance of the guidelines to ensure safe and healthy products to make Mission Tandarust Punjab a huge success. He said that this type of checking would continue under the ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ and the adulterators of food items would not be spared at any cost.
