Hardeep Singh Puri Appeals to Youth to Make Swachh Bharat abhiyan a “Jan Andolan”

Says, Youth and Children are the main driving force behind SBM

To commemorate four years of successful implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and other entities organized a two-week long Swachhata hi Sewa Abhiyan. On the eve of Mahatma Gandhi Birth Anniversary, Hindustan Prefab Limited organised a programme here today to generate awareness among children on the importance of keeping their surroundings and the nation clean.Addressing the children on the occasion, Union Minister of State (I/C) Hardeep Singh Puri said Swachhata hi Sewa drive is an effort to involve people in this mission to make it a Jan Andolan. He said that children and youth are main driving force for the success of this mission. He said, this mission has also helped in achieving ODF society.Puri told the participants that today is also the World Habitat Day which his Ministry will officially observe on 5th October 2018. He said that the theme for this year is “Municipal Solid Waste Management” which is closely connected with Swachhata hi Sewa drive. He said, World Habitat Day reminds us that keeping our villages, towns and cities clean is our prime responsibility.Hindustan Prefab Limited also organised a painting and essay writing competition on the occasion. Shri Hardeep Puri later distributed prizes to the winners and appreciated their creativity.The Secretary of MoHUA, Shri Durga Shankar Mishra also addressed the participants and hoped the youth and children will carry forward the good work and help in maintaining the country clean.
