DC Hands Over Food Items To Needy People Living On Bank Of Swollen Kali Bein

Asks Officers/ Officials To Ensure That Water Level In Bein Recedes At The Earliest

Extending a helping hand to more than 100 families living on the banks of Kali Bein at village Kang Saabu who were facing problems due to rising water level in it, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today handed over packets of ration to them.The Deputy Commissioner accompanied by the Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Rajiv Verma visited the bank of the river inhabited by these needy families, who were facing crisis due to rise in water level in the Bein. He said that the sudden increase in water level was due to the excess water released in village Satluj. Mr. Sharma also asked the officers/ officials of the drainage department to ensure that the water recedes fastly.The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers/ officials to check the bridges over the downstream of the Bein for ensuring that there was no blockage in the flow of the water. He said that the unwanted weeds, if any, must be removed from the Bein so that people do not face any sort of problem. 

Mr. Sharma also asked the officers/ officials to ensure regular patrolling over the Bein.Reiterating the firm commitment of the Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to bail out the needy people of the state, the Deputy Commissioner said that as a part of this pledge he was here to extend a helping hand to every distressed family. Meanwhile, Mr. Sharma handed over packets of ration to the families living along with the Bein. He said that the district adminsitartion was duty-bound to ensure all sort of help to the any resident of Jalandhar facing any sort of crisis.  Each packet handed over by the Deputy Commissioner contained 10 kilogram of Atta (floor), one kilogram each of Chana Dal, Moongi Masar Dal, Black grams (Chana), Cooking Oil, Sugar and Salt besides 250 gram each of Turmeric (Haldi) and Tea.
