Vet Varsity releases Package of knowledge through Calendar and APPs on Mela

Two days Pashu Palan Mela was inaugurated today at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana at its campus. .V.P.Singh  Badnore, Governor of Punjab was chief guest of the mela whereas Janab Hamid Karzai, former president of Afghanistan was guest of honor at this  occasion. Dr. Harish Kumar Verma, Director of Extension Education informed that for efficient management procedures of different livestock species,  “Livestock Calendar” developed by scientists of GADVASU, Ludhiana was released by dignitaries on the occasion of Mela. This Livestock Calendar is  a comprehensive tool carrying monthly Animal Husbandry operations for dairy, pig, goat, fish, and poultry farming including fodder related practices.  This is a sort of Universal Calendar covering all operations for 12 months of the year. It will act as a ready reckoner/handy tool which can lead to timely  action by the farmers so that livestock management reaches at its pinnacle for better production. Once purchased, it can guide and help the farmer for years together. Two android based Mobile Apps on Pig Farming and other is on goat farming were also released in the Pashu  Palan Mela. These APPs can be downloaded from Google Play Store. These APPs covers all the pig farming related operations from initiation of pig  farming and goat farming to its proper rearing, feeding and marketing. Dr. Verma said that in the time of social media these Apps will be very useful for  pig farming and goat farming. Farmers may get handy information all the time in their mobile phones.
