In a drive started by the CIA staff of Ludhiana (Rural) police against drug smugglers, two drug smugglers have been arrested and 1.5 kilograms of opium was recovered from their possession.While providing further information, Mr Tarun Rattan, SP (Investigation) and Mr Amandeep Singh Brar, DSP (Investigation) informed that while acting on secret information, a team of CIA staff arrested Gurdeep Singh alias Sidhu, son of Amar Singh, a resident of village Nathowal and Harwinder Singh alias Bagga, son of Major Singh, a resident of village Heran and recovered 500 grams and 1 kilograms of opium, respectively, from their possession.A case number 141 under sections 18/61/85 of NDPS Act has been registered against Gurdeep Singh alias Sidhu at Hathur Police Station and a case number 144 under sections 18/61/85 of NDPS Act has been registered against Harwinder Singh alias Bagga at Hathur Police Station.Mr Tarun Rattan informed that on September 14, 2018, ASI Chamkaur Singh along with the police party was carrying out checking when Gurdeep Singh alias Sidhu was arrested from near T Point near village Kamalpura and 500 grams opium was recovered from his possession while Harwinder Singh alias Bagga was arrested from near T Point near village Seeloani and 1 kilograms of opium was recovered from his possession.He informed that the duo are habitual drug smugglers and the matter is still under further investigation.
