Himachali traditions should be kept alive at all costs : Jai Ram Thakur

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was the Chief Guest in the Sair Mahotsav and 57th annual function and Himachali Milan programme of District Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha at New Delhi on Saturday. Member of Parliament Ram Swaroop Sharma presided over the Function.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that he would make every effort to serve the people of state sincerely and added that he was indebted to the people of Mandi and would do his best to come up to their expectations. He said that he would endeavour to perform with excellence so that Himachal Pradesh touched the pinnacle of development. He said that his government would only work with positive agenda and welfare of people was on the top of it.Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh was rich in traditions and they should be kept alive at all costs. We should not forget our culture, traditions and native village which was the motherland and our roots that were the essence of our identity. He said that young generation should be made aware of our cultural heritage and they should carry forward those traditions then only our identity will remain till posterity.Chief Minister said that Sair Mahotsav was an important event for people of Himachal especially Mandi and it was celebrated to mark the end of crop harvest. Lot of local traditions were associated with it and is celebrated with great zeal, he added.

He urged the Himachali Community residing in National Capital Region to come forward and extend support in serving the people of the state which would be a true service to the motherland. He also urged them to be in touch with their roots and keep the traditions alive.Chief Minister announced rupees one lakh for the cultural programme and the Sabha on the occasion.He also honoured various persons performing distinguished services in various fields.Ram Swaroop Sharma in his address lauded the Sabha for the welfare activities providing succour to the poor and needy. He thanked the Chief Minister for giving priority to the development of Mandi and added that best medical facilities would be available in the district soon.  He said that various ambitious projects were coming up in the constituency which would benefit the people.President, District Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha K.R Verma welcomed the Chief Minister and other guests and informed about various social and humanitarian activities being undertaken by the Sabha in Mandi district and NCR.A film portraying various developmental activities of the Sabha was screened during the function.A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.MLAs Rakesh Jamwal, Inder Singh Gandhi, Vinod Kumar and Prakash Rana, former Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, Councillors of East Delhi and South Delhi MCs and local bodies of Mandi district, leaders and Himachalis associated with various BJP Morchas in national capital, people living in NCR and Members of District Mandi Jan Kalyan Sabha attended the function.
