In continuation with the Poshan Maah Celebrations presently going on across the state, CDPO ICDS Project Mahore Ms Anjum Ganai today organized a fancy dress competition in Mountaineer Convent Public School in Mahore. To give momentum to the awareness campaign, Ms Anjum Ganai CDPO said that we need to launch sustained outreach activities during the Poshan Maah at Block and at Anganwadi Centre level with the aim of reaching every household with the message of nutrition -‘har ghar poshan tyohar’. The main objective of the Poshan Maah is to fight malnutrition and to conduct awareness campaign to eat quality food in a hygienic way. Though there are many schemes that deal directly or indirectly with the malnutrition of children, pregnant women, lactating mother but the level of malnutrition is still high. The Poshan Maah will be playing a crucial role in a holistic way, she added.During the fancy dress competition, the students cheerfully showcased their talent by dressing up as Fruits and Vegetables. It was pleasure to watch the toddlers dressed up as different characters, It was overwhelming to see our little ones speak confidently about the fruits/ Vegetables they were depicting, said Ms Ganai. This activity not only helped the students to bring out their inner talent, gave them a platform to build their self-confidence and explore their inner strength, but also made them aware about the benefits of healthy food. 

She further said that holding of school based activity is a great way to communicate with the students about the issues of Malnutrition and its effects. It is essential to teach the children about Nutrition, Health, Hygiene and sanitation, as children are the future of our Country. Malnutrition is a point of concern for both people and the Government, and children being the future of our Country need to be provided awareness by adding fun element in it. While referring to the education system she said that the literacy rate of our country as well as of our State is increasing considerably in Urban as well as in rural areas, but I feel that on awareness front we are still at the bottom and we need to gear up our resources to spread awareness among the people about the basic essential things like Nutrition, Health, Hygiene and sanitation, girl child education, right age of marriage of Girl child, said CDPO on the occasion.On the occasion recipe Demonstration/ Healthy Food Demonstration, organized by the field staff ie Anganwadi workers and Supervisors was given to the children and such an innovative way to interact with the children, in a school based activity and provide them the information about the benefits of taking healthy food, maintain proper hygiene and sanitation, and other issues related to bringing in the behavioral changes in children has been appreciated by the people of the area.
