Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh Narinder Modi today interacted with the field functionaries of ICDS/ Health Departments in a Direct Samvad organized by Ministry of Women and Child Development/ Health Department, Government of India under Poshan Abhiyaan.In Mahore, the Main Function was organized by CDPO Mahore Ms Anjum Ganai in the Meeting hall, in which besides field staff of ICDS, Villagers, Adolescent Girls, Women, Students, Ex Panches/ Sarpanches and people from trade fraternity participated. The main aim of organizing such an event with public participation was to spread the message of the importance of optimum Nutrition, so as to make the message reach in every house hold of Mahore.Speaking on the occasion CDPO said that Malnutrition which means deficiency in physical and mental growth of the child mainly happens during the first two years of the child’s birth, which means that the malnourished child can not participate in the development of the country. Since children are the assets/ future of any country, and as such we need to wage a war against this silent enemy (Malnutrition), with the pledge to make every house of Mahore Tehsil Malnutrition free, with the slogan Malnutrition-quit India.
She further said that we need to follow four golden rules to eradicate Malnutrition completely which are 1) proper Nutrition to mother during pregnancy, 2) Mothers milk within one hour of the birth of child, 3) only mother’s milk during the first six months and lastly 4) after six months, add nutritious diet along with mother’s milk, and need of the hour is that we all need to come together on one platform and wage a war against malnutrition.While highlighting the Poshan Abhiyaan, she said that Government has fixed targets to reduce stunting, anaemia (among young children, women and adolescent girls) and low birth weight by 2 per cent, 2 per cent, 3 per cent and 2 per cent per annum, respectively.She said that for the last six months an exclusive effort has been launched by this office to create awareness among the people and in this connection various community based events have been conducted which include Village health and sanitation day at Anganwadi centre level. In addition to Nutrition, efforts have been made to bring in behavioral changes in the people of the area with regard to health, hygiene and sanitation. But a lot more has to be done and asked for the support of the people to join this office in this mission and make the Poshan Abhiyaan a Jan Andolan.
