Amway India wins CSRaward at the prestigious National CSR Summit & Awards 2018

Amway India, the country’s leading FMCG Direct Selling Company, has bagged the “Best Corporate” award in the ‘Specially-abled’ category at the prestigious National CSR Summit & Awards 2018, organised by CSR Times.Sh. Suresh Prabhu,Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Government of India,presented the award to Ms. Simrat Bishnoi, National Head – Corporate Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility,Amway India,amidst top leaders and jury members such as Stuti Narain Kacker, Chairperson,National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Government of India; Padma Shri Dr. K K Agarwal, Dr. M P Narayanan, Vice Chairman, World Mining Congress; Mr. Harish Chandra, Editor, CSR Times.Aimed at honoring the outstanding and innovative CSR practices adopted by organizations, the award recognises Amway’s persistent contribution and work towards the welfare of visually impaired individuals.On receiving the award, Ms. Simrat Bishnoi, National Head – Corporate Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility, Amway India said, “We are truly honoured to be recognized for our efforts towards the cause of visually impaired individuals over the last two decades. Aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Accessible India’ initiative aimed at expanding prospects for people with disabilities, Amway has been supporting and empowering the visually impaired individuals by creating opportunities for their education as well as digitization of the educational material for greater accessibility. The award is a testimony of Amway’s commitment towards‘Helping people live better lives’ and making a strong impact on the lives of over 2.5 lakh visually impaired individuals under the project.Corporate Social Responsibility is a core component of Amway’s ethos. We have been undertaking CSR initiatives since the company’s inception in the country. The award brings Amway direct sellers, employees, affiliates and customers a cause of pride that goes beyond the realms of business.”As a key focus area, Amway has been working tirelessly towards the welfare of the visually impaired individuals with a firm belief that education and knowledge are the keys to the future transcending physical limitations. Amway India started CSR initiatives in 1999 with the National Project for the Visually Impairedto provide opportunities of quality education to visually impaired, thereby improving their employment prospects. Under this project, Amway has launched Braille textbooks, audio books and libraries, computer training centers, BPOs, and several other initiativeswhich has helped in increasingthe education prospects of the visually impaired. So far, the project has impacted the lives of over 2.50 Lakh visually impaired individuals.

Amway India’s CSR initiatives

Amway India’s CSR initiatives are based on the belief that social responsibility is much more than the incurrence of a cost or a resource on a charitable/ philanthropic act of social benefit. It is an opportunity to bring in social innovation and change. This belief is articulated in Amway’s vision of helping people live better lives. When it comes to commitment to corporate citizenship, Amway India makes a serious and concentrated effort to reach out and help people improve their lives. Amway India supports a comprehensive CSR programme covering a gamut of initiatives including a water conservation project to improve the ground water level in 7 villages in the Dindigul district located around the manufacturing plant. Amway Opportunity Foundation launched a village health program targeted at 26 villages in the Dindigul district, to provide quality healthcare to the underprivileged. A total of 144 health check-up camps (12 camps in a month) are being conducted within a span of 12 months. The treatment includes general health check-up, select pathological tests and medicines at zero cost to the beneficiaries.As a key focus area, Amway has taken various initiatives to support the cause of visually impaired. Amway also supports underprivileged children in education, health and hygiene under a project titled ‘Sunrise’. Under this project, the company currently supports more than 15 NGOs across the country.Community Health and Entrepreneurship Program:Amway has been promoting self-employment among women community health facilitators. Under this initiative, the underprivileged women are provided with training on entrepreneurship skills and business fundamentals to enhance affordable healthcare outreach program in few underserved rural areas of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
