Officers directed to observe September as 'National Nutrition Month' to sensitize masses about balanced diet

Sensitizing women about the importance of breast-feeding, Mansa Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyait said that mother's milk during first hour of birth is vital for a newborn. Therefore, women should take balanced diet regularly and breastfeeding to newborn babies should be preferred.Presiding over a meeting of officials of various departments at the Bachat Bhawan to observe September as 'National Nutrition Month', she directed all the officers to bring the nutrition campaign to the masses. She also administered oath of the Nutrition diet to the officers and employees on this occasion.Deputy Commissioner instructed that under this campaign, pregnant women should be made aware of rich nutritious diet. In addition to this, the Healthcare and School Management Committees also asked to spread awareness through their special efforts. "Under the Nutrition Campaign, every person, organization and representative is expected to take up his due responsibility to create malnutrition-free society", she said adding that with the help of nutrition technology, positive changes will be made in good diet and behaviour.Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of the ICDS, Education, Health and Water Supply & Sanitation departments to accomplish the responsibility assigned to them to make this campaign a success.District Program Officer Mr. Rakesh Walia said that the aim to observe National Nutrition Month is to sensitize the people about the importantace of balanced diet. "We will perform our duty on mission mode", he said.
