Consumers to get sugar and edible oil quota soon : Kishan Kapoor

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kishan Kapoor said that the state government was making best possible efforts to provide quality ration to people of state besides ensuring that there was no shortage of food grains. He was presiding over a review meeting of the department here today.He said that tenders had been invited for edible oil and soon it would be made available to the consumers. Similarly the sugar quota would also be supplied to the consumers at the earliest.The Minister directed the departmental officers to ensure that there was no shortage of essential commodities and there should be proper arrangement for its storage. He said that few complaints were received regarding technical errors in the machines installed in the ration depots, but this should not be an excuse for delay in ration distribution.Kishan Kapoor said that discussion was held with the government of India regarding supply of pulses to the state and the decision had been taken to purchase the pulses from HAFED and this would help the state in saving crores of rupees annually.While reviewing the Mukhya Mantri Grihani Suvidha Yojna, he said that so far 33,300 eligible families had been given free LPG connections and by the end of this month, 10,000 more families would be provided gas connections. The department has received around 1.50 lakh applications for LPG connections, which were being examined.Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Onkar Sharma, Director Madan Chauhan, Executive Director of the Corporation Tanuja Joshi and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
