Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today underscored the need for hygienic and nutritional meal for the children for emerging India as a strong and vibrant nation.Addressing the gathering during Nutrition week being observed by the Social Security, Women Child and Development department fromSeptember 1-7 under the National Nutrition Mission, the Deputy Commissioner said that the healthy children and youngsters were the greatest asset of the country due to which adequate focus must be laid on proper food quality for the children. He said that special thrust must be laid on quality of food by ensuring that it was cooked and served in a hygienic environment to the children, so that foundation of a strong India could be laid. Mr. Sharma said that proper implementation of scheme stipulating hygienic and nutritional meal for children was the top priority of the district administrationThe Deputy Commissioner said that this week long campaign would be instrumental in sensitizing the parents about the need for serving clean and hygienic food to the children. He said that already a lot of awareness has been   generated on this issue adding that it would be further get boost under the campaign. Mr. Sharma said that this routine needs to be followed in the daily routine life so that children could live in a hygienic and healthy environment.The Deputy Commissioner said that this campaign would act as a catalyst in carving out a healthy and prosperous tomorrow by ensuring good health of the kids. He said that such sustainable efforts would be further carried on by the district administration in the coming days also. Mr. Sharma asked the officers/ officials to make more such concerted efforts to ensure all-round development of the children.Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also felicitated the healthy babies and their parents on the occasion.On the occasion Assistant Commissioner Mr. Himashu Jain and District Program Officer Mr. Narinder Singh were also present.
