In a noble cause, the students and faculty of the APJ College of fine Arts today handed over a cheque of Rs 1.50 lakh to the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma towards the Kerala Flood Relief fund.The students and faculty members of the APJ College led by Principal Dr. Sucharita Sharma gave the cheque to the Deputy Commissioner at his office here at the District Administrative Complex. Hailing the effort of the college students and the staff, Mr. Sharma said that this initiative of the APJ College would go a long way in providing succor to the people in flood affected Kerala. He said that the generosity shown by the college students and faculty along with the other philanthropists of the city would certainly provide a healing touch to the flood ravaged people of Kerala.The Deputy Commissioner said that till now more than 1400 quintals of flood relief material has been dispatched to Kerala from Jalandhar. He said that around 1200 quintals have been airlifted from the Adampur airbase through four planes another 180 quintals was sent via the train to Kerala a few days back. Mr. Sharma said that as support was coming from all strata of society so the administration would dispatch more relief material for Kerala in coming days.On the occasion Dr. Apra, Dr Monica Bahri, Office Superintendent Mr. Jaswinder Singh and others were also present.
