In a noble gesture, the Guardians of Governance (GoGs) today handed over a cheque of Rs 25,000 to the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma as their contribution in the massive efforts being made by the Punjab government to bail out people in flood ravaged state of Kerala.Handing over the cheque to the Deputy Commissioner, the GoGs led by Colonel (Retd.) Balbir Singh said that it was their proud privilege to get a chance for making a contribution in this humanitarian act of the state government.They said that the state government led by the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was relentlessly serving the people of the state and even in the country, which was highly laudable.They also lauded the efforts being made by the Deputy Commissioner to make Jalandhar a front ranking district in the state.Thanking the GoGs for this valuable contribution, the Deputy Commissioner said that it would help a lot in providing timely help to the people of the flood ravaged Kerala. He said that the GoGs were already playing an important role by keeping a strict vigil over the overall implementation of the welfare schemes of the state government thereby contributing immensely in its overall progress. Mr. Sharma said that GoGs were the real sons of soil, who were always ready to help the state and people to overcome any sort of situation.On the occasion, Honrary Captains (Retd.) Pargat Singh, Karamjit Singh abd Kundan Singh, Subedar Majors (Retd.) BS Azaad and Lakhvir Singh, Havildars (Retd.) Palvinder Singh and Karamjit Singh, Subedars (Retd.) Karnail Singh, Karnail Chand and Naranjan Singh, Naib Subedars (Retd.) Charan Singh and Kapil Dev besides others were also present.
