CM accorded rousing reception on his arrival at Manali

The State Government has taken up the matter regarding restoration of air services to Kullu-Manali with Prime Minister and Union Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister. This was stated by Shri Virbharda Singh, Chief Minister while addressing a felicitation function organised by Manali Hotelier Association at Manali today.Shri Virbhadra Singh said that Manali has emerged as one of the most beautiful and famous tourist destination for the tourists. He said that the pristine beauty and salubrious climate makes Manali a world famous destination. He said that it was duty of the tourists in general and hoteliers and local in particular to maintain ecological balance of the region. He said that the State Government had imposed complete ban on use of polythene in the State.

Chief Minister said that the hotelier must ensure that tourist visiting the State should get a feeling of homely stay only then they would be encouraged to visit the State time and again. He said that Himachal Pradesh was universally known as  land of God and Kullu valley in particular was world wide known for its “Dev Sanskariti”.  He said that Government would provide all possible help to make Manali a tourist paradise. He said that with best services to the tourists visiting the State, Himachal Pradesh should now be known for its warm hospitality.Shri Virbhadra Singh said that Government would take up the work of channelization of Beas River besides building a artificial lake on the river. He said that this would act as an added attraction to the tourists.

Chief Minister accorded approval for construction of Kothi-Bhrighu Road. Chief Minister assured the Association that all their demands would be considered sympathetically.Earlier, Chief Minister paid obeisance at famous Mata Hidamaba Devi Temple at Manali and Durga Devi Temple.He also flagged off Winter Carnival Cultural Troupe and Tablue on the occasion.

Chief Minister was accorded rousing reception and enroute Sase Helipad, situated at 6572 feet to Manali by people from different walks and life and various organisations.Shri Anup Thakur, President, Manali Hotelier Association while welcoming the Chief Minister urged him to improve condition of National Highway to facilitate the tourists visiting Manali. He also requested the Chief Minister to handover Naggar-Jhana forest road to Public Works Department, besides connecting Hamata area with rope way.Shri Thakur said that the State Government was levying 10 percent luxury tax in the State, whereas no such tax was being levied by neighbouring States. He urged the Chief Minister to either reduce it to 5 percent or exempt the hotelier for initial five years.Shri Maheswar Singh, MLA, Kullu, Shri Karan Singh, MLA, Banjar, Shri Govind Singh MLA, Manali, Shri Khub Ram, MLA, Ani, Shri Ravi Thakur, MLA, Lahaul and Spiti, Shri Vikramaditya Singh, Shri Satya Prakash Thakur, former MLA, Shri Roop Chand Negi, Chairman, Nagar Parishad , Manali, Shri Hari Chand Sharma, Chairman, Zila Parishad Kullu, Shri Sharab Negi, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Ashok Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Shri Raghuvir Singh, former MLA, Shri Dharmvir Dhami, Shri Bhuvnesh Gour were present on the occasion among others.
