DDC Poonch reviews modalities for Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign

Chairman District Health Society Poonch Rahul Yadav today chaired a meeting to discuss   the Microplan to start vaccination campaign of Measles and Rubella.The meeting was  attended by  CMO  Dr  Mumtaz  Bhatti,   Dy  CMO  Dr  Shamim-un-Nisa,  Dr Arvind  from  WHO, representatives  from  Army, District  and  representatives from  the departments  of  Health, Education,  Municipality  and members  of civil  societies.The  meeting  was  informed that vaccination  campaign will be carried out   from  1st  to  30th  September  in    the district and shall cover about  1.8 lac  children .   The campaign  will  be  held  in  schools  in  the  first  phase  as the  said  age  group  could  be covered in schools  in  maximum number.The  meeting  discussed  that since  more  than  80  percent  of children of the targeted age group  are  in  schools ,  the  role of education  department becomes  crucial  in  the  process of  vaccination . Dr  Arvind  from WHO urged  Education Department  to  aware the students  and  parents  about  the importance  of vaccination campaign  for  100  percent coverage.  It was therefore decided that all the   Principals and teachers of schools would be sensitized for the success of the campaign.While speaking on the occasion,   DDC Rahul Yadav urged the members of civil society to extend their cooperation for making the campaign successful.Further  the  meeting  was informed  that after  the  schools an  outreach  campaign  will be run to cover  other children .The  DDC  directed  the concerned  departments  to  work hand  in  hand  so  that  no child  is left out   during this   campaign.
